Background

Since bursting onto the curling scene in 2018 with a stunning World Bronze Medal performance and then following that up a year later with a 2019 World Cup Gold and Silver Medal, the team has been working to rise up the World Curling rankings. Perennial contenders at the Canadian Championship saw them finish 3rd and 4th in 2019 and 2020, respectively and a siliver in 2023. The goal of winning an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2022 Games was stalled due to the Olympic Trials being cancelled at the 11th hour.

Moving Forward

On March 23, 2022, Laura and Kirk stunned the curling world with the announcement that they were to focus exclusively on the mixed doubles discipline. Both of them parked their dreams of winning a Scotties Tournament of Hearts and Tim Horton’s Brier to focus their efforts on getting to the top of the podium at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games!

Laura and Kirk are two of the first elite players in Canada to focus exclusively on the discipline to help Canada regain the top of the podium in 2026!

Goals

  1. 2026 Olympic Gold Medallists

  2. 2025 World Mixed Doubles Champions

  3. 2024-2025 #1 on the World Curling Rankings

  4. Continue to grow a brand that is synonymous with professionalism, winning & being leaders and role models in the community.

Who are they?

Both Laura and Kirk have made Curling their life since they were young kids just learning to play the game. Laura has skipped a team to a bronze medal at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and Kirk has helped two teams reach a bronze medal finish at the Tim Horton’s Brier.

Laura and Kirk have also had success from a young age by winning the Canadian Junior Championship (Laura in 2010 and Kirk in 2011).

Their experience on the ice speaks for itself and as they come into their “Curling Prime.” You can expect big things from this team!

Work in the community and off the ice is vitally important to Laura and Kirk. They both work hard giving back as much as they can through various community organizations and curling clinics.
